Barbie cakes were a popular birthday choice in my house growing up. My mom taught us the art of cake decorating at a young age. She was the master at it...trust me. She has an impressive portfolio. So years later...without the large cake decorating kit my mom had, or the small skipper doll that was the perfect size for the barbie cake, I've brought the tradition back. I've made polka dot barbie, bride barbie, party barbie, lavendar princess barbie and now to add to the list produce barbie and pioneer barbie. I made the first one for my friends birthday a while back and now it's become tradition within my group of friends. It's pretty fun. I was surprised to learn that most of my friends had never seen a cake like this before. ? I figured everyone had. Anyway...here are my latest two.Produce Barbie: Created for one of my clients that I train. Why produce? I can't give a client an unhealthy dessert and act like it's okay. So...produce barbie brought a healthy offering-a bundle of asparagus. We'll just call my unhealthy offering job security. ;) If you're
wondering why I made a client a cake-it was her birthday. I found out through her husband, who is also a client of mine, that she was home sick. These clients are like family to me. So there you have it.
Pioneer Barbie: We had our Relief Society birthday celebration last night for enrichment and although I am no longer the enrichment counselor, I thought it would be fun to contribute to the evening with a pioneer barbie cake. I had to do it kind of fast so it's not perfect, but it was fun to do. Everyone loved it. ;)

Pioneer women never looked so good. WOW. You are a miracle worker! I'm very impressed. Love you!
Sarah! This is your business! You said you wanted one...here you go. I can't wait to see the vinyl letters on the back of your car..."Barbie Cakes by Sarah" It's a hit. Seriously, impressive!
You're amazing! I wish I were as talented and creative as you! I've been trying to tell McKinley about doll cakes as an option for her birthdays, but she's never chosen that as an option until now. She wants the one with strawberries and said Sage can have the yellow one. I personally love both! :)
I love it! Especially the pioneer! I never saw cakes like this when I was little, but I've seen a few done as an adult -- yours most certainly win the prize!

I LOVE IT! I want one for my daughers birthday! Now that's what I call Talent!
Wow! I love the cakes! especially the pioneer barbie. My birthday is coming up you know. How do you do that? do you just stick the barbie in the middle of the cake? What kind of cake pan do you use. It's a mystery to me. I wish I could have seen some of your moms cakes. I bet they were great. I love your mom. (and I love you)
Those cakes are so cute. Barbie has never looked so deluctible. It is a good thing that you gave your client asparagus along with the cake, you don't want to be sending mixed signals...oh wait, cake with asparagus might still be sending mixed signals:)
AMAZING, impressive and completely adorable.
