This has been a memorable week in Salt Lake as people have been remembering the life of our prophet. I have been reminded of the full life that he lived and how dedicated he was to serving the Lord. The amount of time he devoted to the work and the rigorous schedule he kept as he served is incomprehensible. He loved not only the members of our church, but people all over the world of different faiths. He was kind and compassionate. He was patient and loving. He was smart and non-judgemental. I was never nervous about how he would handle a situation- just excited to hear how he'd do it. I always just trusted him as our leader. What an incredible man. I had the opportunity to meet him 3 different times in my life. I was grateful for each one. I will miss him as our prophet, but I'm thrilled for him to be released from his tired body and join his wife again.
One of the things I loved the most was his incredible sense of humor. This is a picture of him "knighting" Henry B. Eyring with his cane, the day Eyring was sustained as 2nd counselor in the first presidency. Typical of his personality...I loved it.

I feel incredibly happy and confident in our new prophet and first presidency. They are already amazing leaders. I love these men!

Yesterday as they announced the new presidency on the news, I heard the men on the cardio machines talking at my work (not members of the church) commenting on how good looking President Uchtdorf is. :) It made me laugh. He was the area president when I was on my mission, so I was able to meet him and be taught by him in one of our zone conferences. He's so awesome and his wife is darling. I'm excited about each one of these men and look forward to learning from them. It's inspiring to watch these changes in the church and just reminds me of the power and truthfulness of the gospel.

I hadn't heard about Pres. Uchtdorf being in the First Presidency...he'll be amazing. I figured Eyring would stick around.
That's what I get for living in Colorado. Our news ran a ticker across the bottom of the screen that the Mormon church had a new Prophet - Pres. Monson (which we all already knew) - I guess they thought that was good enough. ( : Thanks for the post, Pres. Hinckley will be missed - he was an amazing man. Love you!!
How cool that you were able to meet Pres. Hinckley 3 times! And to serve under Pres. Uchtdorf. Look at you, hob-nobbing with all the spiritual elite!
Amen to all of your post. It's incredible not only how amazing and Christlike these men are, but how smoothly everything runs in the Church-- even a change in the main leadership. I too was a little behind on the news. Thanks for the post.
