Last Stop-San Jose...and the Airport.

San Jose-June 1-June 2. We made it back to San Jose after a long, long, long bus ride. It was beautiful though. And I saw a sloth. I felt like I was looking at a puppet because I'd never seen one before. Kind of cool. We got in pretty late that night and stayed in Arenal's sister Hostel...the Pangea in San Jose-also a 5 star. Crazy thing about San Jose....the outside of every building is covered in sheet metal, so everywhere you look just looks like a tin roof or dumpster. And there are piles of trash lining the streets. We pulled up to the hostel and I looked at our driver like, "you're kidding right? We understand this is a 5 star hostel. We must be in the wrong place." But no, he assured me that this was it and that it was really nice inside. Ummmm, okay. So he bangs on the sheet metal dumpster door and this little slot opens. They unlock the door and turns out the guy wasn't kidding. It was actually really nice. Same amenities as the hostel in Arenal...minus the niceness of the new beds and clean rooms....and hammocks. But everything else was great. All the walls were covered in bright murals of lizards and masks and who knows what else. It was pretty cool though-nothing I'd do in my own house, but cool-refer to picture. We waited for the shuttle (picture above) to take us back to the airport where we ended up hanging out for 6 more hours. Love a delayed flight! So we missed our connecting flight in Dallas and ended up staying there for a night. Next morning we were again delayed for about 5 more hours because of a rain storm that came in. Needless to say, we were thrilled to make it home...and exhausted from our 2 days of travel. I'll let Ally show you how tired we were. This is really Ally sleeping on the plane. Everyone surrounding me on the plane laughed when I took this picture. Oops. Didn't think I was drawing an audience. Ally isn't thrilled with this photo, but I love it. We had a great time.....and that, my friends, is Costa Rica in a nutshell. ;)
