Can Raging Waters really be considered Utah's Beach? My friend scored tickets from her work for a dollar each, so a bunch of us went on Saturday. I think the last time I was there was for a dance performance at the age of 15 or so. First sign we saw as we walked in was apologizing for all of the water heaters being broken. Perfect! Did I mention that Saturday was the first day in weeks that it was overcast and rainy? We weren't going to let a little bad weather and broken heaters get in the way of our fun, though. The water had the sharp coldness of waterskiing in the late spring...without any kind of wet suit option. That initial drop in is the worst. Takes your breath away. However, after your body is numb it's really not that bad. ;) Favorite rides of the day? Acapulco Cliff Dive and the Rollercoaster. Way fun!! I've gotta say, though-that park looks NOTHING like a beach-false advertising. Pictures: Talese and Greg at the top. They got engaged the night before! congratulations you two. Love this couple!!!! Funny side note...one of the lifeguards told Greg that he looks like Jesus. Apparently he gets that a lot. Other pic: Jaelen, Leslie, Ally, and Ryan.
We also attended a Demolition Derby this weekend. Not only is that event full of excitement with cars crashing, the smell of burning rubber and brakes, exhaust wafting through the stands... but it's also one of the best people watching events in the state of UT. You always gather quite a crowd at a function like that. We all put our bets on cars when they drive out into the arena-not actual bets...just verbal bragging rights for picking the best car kind of bets. I was proud to have picked the car that, in the end, won the mad dog award for being the most aggressive. I've got a good eye for the mad dogs. ;) Before and after pics provided. This is the source of the smell I mentioned earlier. Wish they could bottle that scent!
